Healthy Staff Clinic
In 2012, the Adelaide Nursing School established a Nurse Led Clinic as part of the Health Workforce Australia developing a workforce initiative. The Healthy Staff Clinic is led by Nurse Practitioner Iain Everett with assistance from Bachelor of Nursing students.
Endeavouring for a healthier University, the Healthy Staff Clinic initiative has screened more than 550 staff and HDR students since 2012.
- What we offer
University staff and postgraduate research students are entitled to a free private and confidential 15-20 minute health assessment consultation. Primary health care and health promotion activities are the predominant focus of the assessment. Bachelor of Nursing students accompany and assist in these consultations for the purposes of learning and teaching.
Services include:
- Cardiovascular risk assessment
- Blood pressure check
- Blood glucose monitoring
- AusDrisk – Diabetes risk assessment
- Weight and body mass index measurements
- Alcohol Tobacco and other Drugs (ATOD) health advice
- Mental health advice
- Minor injury assessment and referral
- A call or email follow up one month post health check if required
- Meet the practitioner
Iain has been associated with the University of Adelaide from 2003 as a Clinical Lecturer, a Clinical Titleholder and as a student. He is a registered nurse with over 24 years of experience. He has a background predominantly in emergency nursing and Indigenous remote/primary health care.
After successfully completing a Master of Public Health and a Master of Nurse Practitioner at the University of Adelaide, he is now currently employed as an endorsed Emergency Nurse Practitioner at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in the ‘Fast Track/Minor injuries’ area.
He is privileged to be providing this health service on behalf of the School of Nursing and Unicare to all university staff endeavouring for a healthier University of Adelaide.
