The Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences mission is to improve the health and care of individuals and communities in South Australia, our region and globally through world class research, learning and practice.
Recognised as a world leader in health education and research, our programs are informed by cutting-edge research integrated with high quality teaching. Our academics include outstanding staff that are national and international leaders in their fields, providing a transformational student-centred learning experience.
We aim to transform the future healthcare workforce by developing high achieving team skills and clinical leadership together with the generation of new models of care. Our research will transform future health outcomes for patients through our innovative clinical and translational research and transform the health of populations through implementation of our discoveries and our influence on health policy. We graduate highly skilled and compassionate professionals in their chosen careers who aspire to the highest standards of integrity and ethical behaviour.
The Faculty is currently in one of the most exciting periods of its long history. We are embarked upon major infrastructure developments most notably the construction of a 14 floor building in the South Australia Health and Biomedical Precinct in the West End adjacent to the new Royal Adelaide Hospital and SAHMRI. This is due to open in early 2017 and will house five major research themes, the new Dental hospital and our flagship Medical and Nursing programs. We are also in the midst of a major organisational restructure which is designed to provide highly effective and efficient governance of all aspects of our academic endeavors.
