Assessment

The following information will assist coursework students studying within the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences with issues related to assessment.

  • Assignment Extensions

The University acknowledges that students may require assignment extensions when special needs or unforeseen circumstances impair their ability to complete assessment tasks by the due date.

If you need to apply for an extension or modified arrangements for an assignment or examination held during the Semester, please complete the Application for Replacement Examination or Assessment Extension form and submit it to your course coordinator.

Check your eligibility prior to application. The Modified Arrangements for Coursework Assessment policy identifies the grounds and processes for granting modified assessment arrangements, including extensions.

  • End of Semester Replacement Examinations

Modified arrangements for replacement examinations may be approved for a student in the event that their capacity to demonstrate their true level of competence in an examination was, is, or will be, significantly impaired as a result of medical, compassionate or extenuating circumstances.

The Examinations Office website outlines the policy and the deadlines relating to requesting a replacement examination. Please ensure that you have read this information before submitting your application for a replacement examination to fhsexams@adelaide.edu.au

  • Reviewing your Exam Scripts

The Assessment for Coursework Programs Policy states that students may access their examination scripts for discussions with academics in order to review their mark.

To review your examination script you must put your request in writing to your course coordinator within 28 days of the release of your official results. Requests after this date will not be accepted.

  • Requesting a Re-mark

Coursework students may formally request a review or a re-mark of their assignment or grade provided there are academic or procedural reasons for the request.

Please be aware that if a review or a re-mark is granted, the mark awarded from the review or re-mark will stand as the final mark for the work, regardless of whether it is higher or lower than the mark originally awarded.

Additional information and examples of what constitutes grounds for a re-mark can be found on the Student Grievances Resolution website
